I just put in a 350 I bought,I was tweaking the motor and next thing I know the top of the coil blew off its a MSD bullet 2 8203.The guy at MSD told me I left the key switch on too long without motor running so the coil had no place to release the energy so it overheated anyone heard of this..I never saw this pretty crazy so Im afraid to buy another coil if this may happen again....

I don't know what the hell that last post is about, but yes it can cause a coil to overheat. You should never leave the key in teh run position for any length of time with out the engine running. I've never seen one explode, but the coil is oil filled and I guess it just built up too much internal pressure and popped.
