Now that my car is way out of the planning stages I figured I would start up a new thread to keep the PACC crew up to date on its progress. The Gecko project
Since I got the car home I haven't had a lot of time to work on it. Joe and Mike C were over and helped with the wiring and rear disc install. I'm installing a new painless wiring harness which so far has NOT been painless. But thanks to Joe's expert wiring help things are progressing nicely. The next time I plan on a major work day is Sunday July 6. Everyone is welcome to come and help or just hangout. (Pics to come)

Heres an update on my project. I have the painless wiring mostly figured out at this point. My plan is to hook most of it up and test all the circuits first before running everything through the wire looms. I was hoping to get the motor running this weekend. Its not going to happen had a problem getting my Rad ordered. So it won't be here in time. I did manage to get the Starter circuit all wired up and tested it out. Had the motor cranking today. (just enough to see that the starter works.) Tomorrow I'm running the plug wires and mounting the coil. I plan on mounting the coil in the Right rear fender well area to keep it out of sight and closer to the MSD box. I mounted my MSD box next to the battery behind the RF headlight.

Looks good, Chad All I can say is $$$$$$$ about the pully system and components. don't really like the fuel line behind the water pump though, possible vapor lock if the water temp get too high

Nice Chad! I ran my fuel line that way and did not have any issues and my motor would run hot in traffic, just my $0.02. If you have not thought of it all ready, you might want to drop the battery in and see if you have enough room to change the rev chip in the MSD Box. Keep up the good work!

I did check and I'm able to remove and install the chip with no problems. Thanks for the insight.

Heres an update on what I got done today. I managed to get the coil mounted and wired in the inner fender. Its hidden pretty well. I'm going to run the coil wire across with the other engine wires . I got the pass side plug wires cut to length and wire loomed together. Still need to make three more plug ends. Heres a cheap wire loom system made out of wire ties. It does a really nice job holding the wires in place and keeping them apart. Tomorrow I hope to finish up the Ignition wires and clean up the Barn. I can't even work on my workbench anymore. ;D

Work on the car a a couple of hours today and finished up the wires. I need to get a longer coil wire as the one sent in my kit was a little to short. Also need to get another lower Rad hose as the one from summit is to small. The elderbrock water pump has a 2" out let. the summit hose is 1" 7/8. Theres not a lot under the hood for me to do tomorrow so I may just work on the dash install. After that the car cover goes back on until I get the parts I need to fire this thing up. Next sunday !!!!!!!!!!! Maybe?

Sorry guys no pics Today! Just an update. My Rad arrived tuesday and just got a chance to get it out of the box today. Its a Very nice Piece. Had a little time to work on getting it mounted up. It was not a bolt in deal for me. I've learned that the rad supports are diffrent for small block and big block cars. So I had to do a little tweeking of the rubber bushings to get them to sit in place. No real big deal just not expected. I also figured out my lower rad hose issue. The factory hose end at the waterpump is 1 3/4" my waterpump size is 2". So after talking to Ron at alumitec I added a little heat and some grease to the hose and was able to get it to slide on. All thats left to do before start up. 1. Wire the fans 2. Fill with coolant 3. Make coil wire 4. Prime the oil pump (Hook up oil preasure guage) 5. almost forgot put gas in the tank Item number 5 on my list brings up a ? When I go to fire this thing up should I try and prime the fuel pump? I don't want this thing to have to crank along time before it fires over. If you think I should. Got any suggestions on how I should do it. Thanks guys

You could fill the fuel bowls through the vent tubes. That should give you enough cushion to get it started and it'll prime itself quickly once it starts. If you try doing it at cranking speed on the starter it'll take longer.
