Was watching speed channel tonight "American Muscle Car" and they did a shootout of the old Big Blocks.
The engines had to be stock just like they came from the factory, max bore of .060 over. (yeah I know)
So The Fastest Muscle car Engines of All Time engines were:
-Chevrolet 409 -Pontiac 421 SuperDuty -Ford Tunnelport 427 -Mopar 426 Hemi -Chevrolet L88 427 Here is what they came up with...
All were tested on different dynos.
- 1962 Chevy 409 - stock HP rating : 409hp Result : Hp 406 Torque 430
- 1964 Ford 427 - stock HP rating 425 HP Result : HP 637 Torque 554
- 1963 Pontiac 421 SD - stock HP rating 405 HP Result : HP 488 Torque 470
- 1966 Dodge 426 Hemi - stock HP rating 425 HP Result : HP 820 Torque 689
- 1967 Chevy 427 L88 - stock HP rating 425 HP Result : HP527 Torque 501
Holy crap, over 800hp from the 426 Hemi!!!
I know these engines were under-rated but wow!!!!

I never said that it had to be true.
But even if close, they were way under-rated and yeah the Hemi kicked all other engines of it's time ASS!!!
Don't be jealous.
I'd still rather have a chevie in my garage!!!
