As some of you know I am into politics and spent the weekend in Iowa at a Constitution Party meeting. I thought I would share some photos from the weekend. I LOVE flying so I included some of those photos as well.
Howard Phillips worked in the Nixon Administration and is the chairman of the Conservative Caucus. The man is very knowledgably of the inner workings of Washington. He is certainly aware of the two machines (Rs & Ds) and the power and frankly the monopoly they have in politics but is still fighting the good fight.
Chuck Baldwin is a pastor in Florida that has a radio show and weekly columns on the Web site News with Views. He has had some big name guest on his radio show and appears to be in this fight all the way. I had an interesting chat in the hotel room Fri & Sat night with him and Howard and they are working hard on getting a nationally recognized candidate. Ron Paul’s campaign manger is very sympathetic to the party and was actually going to attend, but Ron was have a rally on Saturday the same days as our meeting, in Des Monies (so close, yet so far), in fact Chuck Baldwin left our meeting early on Saturday to speak at Ron Paul’s rally. Chuck is still hopeful that he can work that relationship with Ron Paul. Time will tell - I am not as optimistic on this as some others.
Also met Mary Starrett (News with Views), she is the Communications Director for the CP. She used to be an ABC news reporter and ran for governor in Oregon. Just a very sweet lady and welcomed me to the party, and IMHO a great asset to the CP. I spoke to her in-depth about utilizing the internet, especially You Tube. Jim ask me if I would mind video taping the speeches, I said no problem and said we need to post these speeches on You Tube and the National Web site. I also had a great chat with Mary on this and she informed me the CP had a You Tube account. I hope get these things edited soon and get them posted. You guys should take a few moments and check. I’ll let you know when they are posted.
I know some you have expressed concerns about the religion aspect of the party, I can tell you others in the party share that concern as well. Mainly the Preamble, it somewhat bothers me and I expressed that I know from speaking with others it has scared them away from what I believe is a great group of patriots and IMHO the only party that could possibly save this country. Jim said he voted against it, so my thinking is, they are aware of it. And I can tell you; there are Jewish folks in the party as well.
Dr. Jerome Corsi, as many of you know has a best selling book, "The Late Great USA" - is on TV and radio quite often (was on Glenn Beck recently). He is without a doubt on the front lines of this globalization and is an expert on the SPP (Security Prosperity Partnership) aka North American Union. Speaking with him about this was amazing. The research he has done on this topic would blow you away. Get the book! Oddly enough he has a PhD from Harvard and is NOT a liberal but a true patriot.
And of course you all know Alan Keyes. He is an incredible speaker, although he was in our meeting for a Q&A session, not so much for a speech. It was a blast to meet someone I have admired for years.
And for the biggest news perhaps, the CP is going to try and get Lou Dobbs to speak at the convention in April. I can only pray this happens.
All in all it was a wonderful experience to meet and speak with such great folks and get their insight. Being a long time reader of News with Views, it was nice to place a face with a name (i.e. Mary Starrett & Chuck Baldwin).
I know I am behind on OUR site and plan on updating this week. Also we need to get it moved to our new domain. Work has been busy as well. I DO plan on going to Maple this Saturday, it looks like others are going as well.
