using this handy little calculater users.erols.com/srweiss/calchpm.htmyou can estimate your horsepower from your mph in the quarter mile from your timeslips. You also need to know the raceweight of your Chevelle. Using the current champ as an example, and plugging in a guesstimate weight of 3800 lb. and Dan's 116.38 mph you get 467.5 hp. This is how the top fuel guys estimate their horsepower since no dyno can stand up to the power that they make.

That's cool Rob! Looks like I need to increase the MPH a bit. ;D
Thanks,

Wow, my gerbil has some real kick going around on his wheel ;D
Looks like I need to change the cam/intake and lifters this winter, or just hammer the starts from here on out.

Wow that hurt. according to my calculations I have a whopping 246hp. On the bright side I have lots of room for improvement ;D

I have to be honesty, it seems a little low for everyone, I like to get a dyno test and see exactly how accurate this calculator it really is..

I have to be honesty, it seems a little low for everyone, I like to get a dyno test and see exactly how accurate this calculator it really is.. It is just an estimate, It canot account for such things as aerodynamics. A corvette would reqiure less hp for a given mph than a van. But if you have an accurate weight for your Chevelle, and you are going through the traps at close to redline, it is pretty accurate. Most hotrodders think they have more hp than they really do. Car magazines are at fault for this in my opinion, They never seem to build a motor with less than 500 hp. Usually they seem to be able to do it for about $4000. What a joke.

This one provides what your RWHP would be from your 1/4 mile time. There are some other ones there. They are fairly accurate. It's true that most people think they make more hp than they really do. www.tunercalcs.com/hp-from-quarter-mile-et.html

Hmmm...When I use the one Rob linked it shows almost the same HP at the flywheel as the other one that Nik linked at the rear wheels They both seem close. Granted, my runs last year really didn't tell me too much since I had alot of tire spin (bad 60'). But the simulator did show that I "should" run in the low 12 teen bracket with a whp in the high 390-low 400 hp range. But all the planets will need to be aligned so the gravitational pull on the earths axis will stop it from moving, thus making me go that much faster;D !!!
