New guy here I have my car 2 months now and never took it out to stomp on it. But I did today Now the problem it moves out quick but starts to break up at 3000 rpm in 1st. When I get on it in 2nd and third or when I am on hwy it seems ok There is an msd 6al Ignition which I know nothing about but do see they have a rev limiter at 3.6,7 thousand rpm. How do I adjust this or are there any other Ideas Thanks Ted

It sounds to me your on the right track with the ignition. Possible ignition wires or Pull a spark plug and check there condition.

do you have an automatic in the car? it doesn't rev past 3000 in first but second and third it revs to where ever you want the motor too? plug wires. when you put a load on the motor it misses, breaks up?

First, change the plugs. It's the easiest and a bad plug will not show up unless under load. If this doesn't work move to the wires, they are the same. They will usually pass a resistance test but you can't simulate running conditions.

If it's pitted good chance it's not picking up the signal correctly and is why your rpm's are breaking up. Couldn't hurt to change it.

Stopped at Krimes in Ephrata to check on magnetic pick up. He looked at the car asked what was wrong Pulled the 6000 chip out of the bottom of the MSD box and said try it without the chip He has seen them go bad. Well 5 straight trys all over 5 grand. The car seems fine. Thanks for all your input. Ted Chad I sent you private message at chevelle tech THANKS ;D
