What a hot night to go racing!! So hot, that Sean's 66 blew out the water pump gaskets causing track down time. He changed his pants and with help from all that were there (Chad "the parts go-fer", Joe "the pizza guy", Rob the "Mustang racer", Dan "the photographer", and myself.....along with Sean of course) got the "other" green monster running and road worthy to get him home again. Dan was babying the 70 just getting used to the new Tremec ( I think its the first he got it out of 3rd ?). Joe was having a few issues with his tranny, nothing that a home made funnel and some ATF couldn't fix. I couldn't hook to save my a$$. The right lane was terrible, the left was no better, I spun the one pass for 30 ft or more. The heat and humidity didn't help matters any. I had enough trouble trying to leave with my 2 step let alone keep my sun glasses cleaned off enough to see what I was doing. The track was slipperier then snot on a door knob!! My best was a 13.14 out of the left lane and Dan's was a 12.80 (I believe). Called it a night around 9:45 and all headed home. I had enough rice and tacos for one night .....right Dan ;D ?

Brian that is an excellent summary. I didn't even realize Sean had broken down at first, I was looking all over for him and Joe and then heard the news. Brian was also correct the track was like ice. I was getting used to the 5 speed (2nd to 3rd) just as Jim said it takes a bit of getting used to - missed third a few times. And my steeper first....well I might as well been ice. I have it down for street driving but racing is another ball game. And the HEAT and humidity was absolutely horrible.
Over all it wasn't too crowded but again Brian nailed it, enough rice and tacos to last me for a while.

Well put Brian. Enough rice and tacos for me too... Glad you made it home Sean. Trans did no better going home last night. Wouldn't stop down shifting even with the gas pedal on the floor. Then all hell broke loose about 7 miles past route 100 exit...oil pressure gauge went to zero and engine stopped running a few seconds later. Even with me and a pa state trooper telling the tow truck guy where I was took until almost 1am for him to finally get her loaded up and start out for my house. After playing around with it since I got up around 11am today found that distributer is not turning and found metal in the oil. Pulled distributer out gear is missing teeth... Cam shaft gear doesn't look much better. Turned engine around by hand valves are moving which tells me that the timing gears and chain are still on and most likely weren't to blame. Got hot and humid out gave up playing around with it for now. I said "go or blow" last night at the track well...it "go'd and then blow'd"...

Today was not much better. The first run I made was with the morning fog and the car left good. After that the sun came out and the track just got slippery. The best 60 I got was 1.35 after the sun came out. You guys need to try a weekend race when the track is prepped a little better. You may not get as many runs but there will probably be ZERO import cars.

Wow Joe..........that sucks. The family and I just drove to York for the nightly car cruise that the street rodders are in town for. With 100% humidity, the Velle was NOT liking it at all. It felt like it was missing all the way to York. I think I got a fouled plug?? Its 11:00 pm and we just got home from York and a late supper. I just went out and played with the 2 step and did a hole shot near my house ;D. I'm sure the neighbors love me right about now It blew the tires off instantly.......30+ foot marks

My best time in the little mustang was 15.2 and worst was 15.9 spinning 1st 2nd and 3rd down the track. Track was not good, very slick.
Joe - Sorry to hear about your motor. Too bad you sold that 307.
