Spoke with My engine builder Mark today and found out I need a fuel pump push Rod for a roller cam. I went to remove the installed standard push rod and am having a hard to getting it out. It seems stuck I tried turning the motor over and it moved outwards some. Anybody have any trick how to get ahold of it and pull it out.

It should slide right out(being a new motor) unless the motor was run and the rod got peaned on the end. then you might have to pull the cam to get it out. (file bures off)

As Rick stated it should just fall out. make sure you don't have a bolt in the front of the block holding it in.(it's been done before) You could try a pair of needle nose vice-grips if it is a snug fit. Usually you have to stick some thing in the hole in the front of the block to hold the push rod up while you install the fuel pump because it is a loose fit.

I called Butch and asked him if he had any problems installing it. He said it slid right in but he did put some assembly lube on which I know can be very firm. I'm going to try and spray some lube up around it to maybe help remove some of the assembly lube.

Well after several months and several hours of total frustration. I was able to remove the push Rod. What i ended up doing was placing a metal collar with a set screw in the side if it over the push rod. This allowed me to get a good bite on the rod to pry it out.

Thanks Rick!
I have ? for you. When I go to buy the correct push rod should I spend the extra $$$ for the one with the roller tip?
What type of push rod did you use on your roller cams?

I have an electric fuel pump, Chad. But I know 2 people who run mechanical pumps with roller cams and will get intouch with them tonight.
