i have been battling clutch pedal height issues for a while.
i thought i have everything sorted out with the new motor i put in back in july. from then to now i have just about 2000 miles on the motor.
one day i was coming home from work, and went to push the clutch in, and it made a clicking sounds, but only once. kind of like the ratchet sounds of a ratchet, but it only did it once. then the pedal grabbed about 1/8" off the floor, and there was about 4-5" slop at the top of the pedal. almost like it was dead.
all this reminded me of when the adjustable pivot ball came loose.
so i pulled the trans out the other day, after checking the rod adjustment, and all the welds on the zbar and the brackets and such, couldnt come up with anything.
to my surprise i found a lot of clutch dust in the bell housing.
i checked the pivot ball and everything was at the measurements it was before, and everything is tight.
i pull the clutch pressure plate off, and there are a lot of hot spots on the flywheel, and a few hot spots on the pressure plate. also my clutch disk has about .010 of material left on the flywheel side.
2-3 weeks before this i took it to the track. made 2 passes. no burnouts, but i did slip the clutch enough to not break the tires loose or hop, but still come out the hole fast. it wasnt much or long. i drove it every day for 2-3 weeks put on about 300 miles in that time, if not more, and everything was perfectly fine. no slipping no nothing. went in and out of gear just fine, pedal height seemed real nice.
so what are your thoughts?
current set up is...
lakewood scatter shield
stock reman 87+ 1pc seal flywheel
centerforce dual friction clutch (about 5-6k miles on by now)
heavy duty clutch fork
CF throwout bearing
lakewood adjustable pivot ball
thanks
