I'm in the middle of gutting my interior and need to remove the headliner which is in good shape. The headliners I have replaced in newer cars are glued on to a piece of cardboard and then snapped into place. Is this the way they did it back then. Any suggestions on getting it down with out destroying it.

Chad, I've never seen anyone take one out and re-use it. The holes never seem to line up when you stretch it. I had a brand new one in mine when I bough it. We took it out for the resto and we gave up after two hours..sent it out to an installer and he had to use a new one. Our resident Master builder Rick may have had some luck...I'm sure he will chime in.

pay to have it done. i've tried it and what a headache.... it's worth the couple hundred to let someone who knows how to do them do it for you.

Hey Chad, Sorry I don't have any tips on taking it out and reusing it. I put the headliner in my chevelle and that was after the windows and roll bar were in. Now that was a job. If you want help putting in the headliner let me know. I have a box full of clips and the paint sticks I used to put mine in.

Chad make sure you mark the bows front to back and make a note of which hole they came out of. I think on the 67 the were 4 holes in each plate where the bows went into I drew a picture of each plate, numbered them, marked the hole the bow went into on the drawing. be carefull of the plastic clips in the center of the roof. they get brittle with time.
