This is pretty much what we have to trim off Rick. Just the FLANGE part NOT the part where the starter nose goes into. The starter nose fit is fine it's the two inside header tubes that are hitting the bell housing flange. The original GM bell housing flange just cleared the tubes. We got the bell housing up to the block but the flange was against the tubes and pushed the bell housing towards the other side about the thickness of the flange we need to trim off. It's the design of his headers that run so close the the block and they just clear the starter. Any bell housing flange more then a 1/4" and it will hit the tubes on the headers. i26.tinypic.com/ev1l55.jpg

Hey Joe, That Photo Shop Plasma cutter works nice ;D That's all it needs..two seconds and its done! Tech inspectors will never see it because it's behind the header tubes.

Dan,
If you want to use my mcleod bellhousing as a mock up to see if it fits feel free. I will be out of commission for a while so i don't need it for at least a few months.

I heard Dave exclaiming as he rode out of sight last sunday "Take your ginko Dan and you won't be so confused"... Don't worry Dan we have enough guys here to "getter done"... ...and if not we have hammers, saws alls, duct tape,Elmer's glue, and square pegs to fit in rounds holes to get the job done...

I was just saying if you want to see if the mcleod fits better you are welcome to mock mine up to your car. That is assuming that you don't want to cut you flanges off.

Dan, if you have the bell housing marked where you want it cut, I can pick it up and cut it for you.
If your headers are that close to the starter, you may want to fab a heat shield for it.

Joe & Everyone, Again I can't thank you guys enough, to be honest, screw the Ginkgo, I need a bottle of valiums, this stuff is stressful. Jon, thanks! I hope I didn't come off rude. I was actually going to take you up on the offer, and then the masterful fabricator came down today, he (Rick) is amazing!! He saw that only about (I don't know 1/4 inch or so needed to be trimmed. It wasn't near as much as I had thought or would have believed, which is nice as we can keep the integrity of the bellhousing. The bellhousing is now actually mounted to the engine ready for dial in. Rick wanted to get a better gauge. I tell you, and I MEAN this sincerely - everyone of you guys ROCK! Sean, Chad, Joe, Dave, Rick, Rob, Jon - the outreach and help from you guys is just absolutely amazing. I really can not thank you all enough! This project has made me realize what this little club of ours is all about. The friendships, help, racing, cruising and the laughs (Dave supplies much of the laughs ;D) - Again, I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you guys! My mechanical skills are limited, but if you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to call me. . Dan
